Please help us by writing to our State and Federal members of Parliament.

Federal Attorney-General, George Brandis has announced that the Abbott Government has reversed its decision to cut $25.5 million worth of funding from the Legal Aid sector (which includes Community Legal Centres) over the next 2 years.
What Does the Federal Funding Reinstatement Mean?
As of 1 July 2015, the FWCLC will see the return - for 2 years of the family law & domestic violence legal service funding. This is really exciting news for FWCLC and for the Far West Region.
Our core funding is still threatened. We won't know what this means until the Federal Budget announcement on 12 May. Then the State Government will allocate the funds. Then we will be advised of the actual amount of funding for 2015/2016.
What has been the impact of the fight for the reinstatement?
Sadly, we farewelled Eliza Hull on Friday. Mariette Curcuruto will leave 30 June 2015. We will recruit a new Principal Solicitor.
We will therefore maintain a smaller caseload, as a responsible and ethical community-based legal service.
Until 1 July, we will monitor our existing caseload, and advise every person seeking legal advice of what we can provide. We will refer where we cannot deliver a service.
Please callus on 08 8088 2020 if you require advice.
Certainly a victory for community-based legal services like FWCLC but at what cost?
We sincerely thank our supporters. The fight for sustainable funding is not over.
