The Far West Community Legal Centre was formed as a result of a Federal
Government initiative that identified a need for more accessible legal
services in the region.
A public meeting was called in 1999 and an interested group of people formed an incorporated
association to make a submission for funding. The submission was successful and the management committee set about the task of
establishing a community based legal service. The Far West Community Legal Centre Inc. was officially opened on 18 July 2000.
The centre is funded to provide services to residents of the Far West region including Tibooburra, White Cliffs,
Wilcannia, Broken Hill, Menindee, Ivanhoe and Wentworth.
The Far West Community Legal Centre is managed by a volunteer committee. Residents of the Far West
region are invited to become members of our association. Membership forms are available at the centre.

Our Mission:
The Far West Community Legal Centre is committed to providing an excellent service
focusing on the needs of people in our community who have the
least access to justice. Our aim is to provide information about the legal framework
of their problems. Wherever possible, we empower people to help themselves.
We provide advice on many areas of law. A selection of information brochures is displayed in our reception area
and our reception staff can assist you with legal information or refer you to the agency that can best meet your
needs.
If you need legal advice or assistance, you can make an appointment to see one of our solicitors.
This service is free.
Our solicitors can design a talk or other educational activity on any aspect of law to meet the needs of
your interest group. We are able to come to your venue at a time that suits you.
To print a CLE request form, go to the Workshop page, and click on the link. For more information, contact our coordinator.
An important aspect of our work is to lobby for change to laws that are unfair.
The Far West Community Legal Centre makes submissions to government about laws that impact harshly on people in our region.
We work together with other Community Legal Centres across NSW and Australia to make the law fairer for those with the least access to justice.
